ADHD Symptoms
ADHD symptoms vary over age, although there are quite a few similarities.
Symptoms of ADHD in teenagers
- They are not being attentive (this in fact is the basic symptom).
- They may lack in academics.
- They get bored very fast and may feel irritable all the time.
- They may become too hyperactive and aggressive in behavior.
- They may feel they lose out all the time.
- They show laziness in daily activities.
- They always get a complex that may lead to attitude problems.
These symptoms appear to be the normal behavior problem many other teens have as well, hence, diagnosis of ADHD is not compulsory.
It depends on the natural behavior pattern of an individual and some extreme changes detected, that define ADHD.
Symptoms of ADHD in adults
In adults, the causes for ADHD can be many, like: depression, marital problems, loneliness, inattention, a disturbed life pattern, and so on. All these causes may lead to a change in the behavior pattern of an adult, because they start reacting strongly towards all of these - which leads to a change their nature.
The basic symptoms observed in adults that suffer from ADHD are:
- They tend to forget things and the task they are supposed to do very often.
- They fail to recollect what just happened. Their memory weakens.
- They become hot tempered and impulsive in behavior.
- They tend to pay less attention to what others are saying.
- They cannot work in an office comfortably, and stay lonely.
- They're daydreaming.
Study of behavior pattern
Qualities differ from person to person. Although the symptoms mentioned may be observed as natural qualities in some of the adults, they may appear as a disorder in many.
It is very difficult to realize that these in fact are the only symptoms that show if a person is suffering from ADHD or not. Although the existance of these symptoms helps in determining ADHD, this really needs to be dealt with by a health care professional. Only a specialist will be able to determine if the patient suffers from ADHD, and only after a detailed study of the history of the patients' behavorial pattern.
Sometimes the symptoms mentioned are only a situational change in temporary behavior pattern, which can make you think it as a symptom of ADHD. To avoid misdiagnosis know your child or yourself better. And when in doubt, see a health care professional.
